In one of the most well-known locations in the world, this one-of-a-kind walking tour combines the old with the contemporary.
You’ll discover the significance of Alamo Hill during the 1906 fires, its history as a drinking establishment before that, and the far-reaching effects of the Van Ness Ordinance.
You’ll learn more about City Hall’s significance as we walk around the park and get a sense of the many home designs in this area, which has the second-highest density of 10,000-square-foot residences in San Francisco.
We’ll also check out the William Westerfeld House, which has hosted everyone from German confectioners to Russian czars as guests, and the Archbishop’s Mansion, which was formerly home to Pope Pius XII.
Even the Historic Chateau Tivoli, one of the many elaborate Victorian homes in the lovely Alamo Square, will be open for us to visit. After visiting Third Baptist Church, the city’s first Black church, our trip concludes in the famed Fillmore District.
